Our cats

Almost from the moment Muriel was born, it was certain that the cat would stay with us. One of two Orientals in a litter of seven kittens (the rest are Siamese), an unexpected cinnamon (nobody, including the owners of the tomcat, had any idea that Lakshmi carried the gene for our favorite color), and moreover, one of the strongest, largest, and most trouble-free developing kittens in the litter. In addition, she is the owner of a phenomenal, long body inherited from her father (mama Koko is rather petite). No wonder we made the decision quite quickly.

Well, now we have what we wanted. An absolute bundle of energy and a little crazy one. A companion for wild chases with Koko, a puller of plastic bags, a thrower from shelves not only of small objects but entire books, a destroyer of Christmas trees… Yes, yes: ‘the Christmas tree fainted’ is not only a popular meme among cat lovers but also a recurring reality in many catteries, including ours. Buying a heavy, professional stand about three years ago helped a bit, but even that has proven insufficient against Muriel.

However, aside from her tendency for mischief, our cinnamon kitty is an absolute sweetheart. She never has the time or patience for sitting on laps or being carried, but she absolutely loves petting, especially firm petting and rubbing. She is also very close with her mother and grandmother, which is not always the case with female cats. We still remember the conflict between our first cat, Usza, and her daughter Brownie, which many years ago decided the latter’s breeding career was so short. So we don’t complain, but rather enjoy our kitty, quietly hoping that when she becomes a mom herself, she might settle down a bit.
