Past Queens

She joined us from the German Purple Prides cattery. As Usza is a typical oriental shorthair: sweet and charming angel against human beings and domineering despot against other cats, it took her a while to become part of our small clowder.

After her mother, Lotta Loretta she’s taken her wonderful vivid green eyes and after her father Banshee a deep, chocolate colour of her short and glossy coat.

Usza was mother to our first two litters. A showcase mother I would say. No matter if the c-section (out of which our Agile litter was born) or a natural birth – she took a good care about her babies from their very first weep. Even when neutered, she still felt a deep mother instinct – she conflicted her daughter Brownie with an attempt to ‘steal’ Elfin kittens from her, which was key reason for Brownie’s early neutering and rehoming. What the queen is not forgiven!

After neutering Usza had stayed with us as cat resident up to the very moment, when we had to say goodbye. Short after her 11. birthday and one month after Rascal had gone, what seemed a trivial infection, turned out a result of a very nasty brain tumor. When things went wrong neurologically for her, we had to take the decision any pet owner would be happy to avoid.

As our first queen Usza will always have a special part in our hearts. I claim “Unia” to her granddaughter Elaine at least once every single day, as she resembles her in every aspect: indentical silhouette, moves, temperament. We watch the little Khloe (Elaine’s daughter) growing up and remember a late autumn trip from Berlin to Warsaw with a screaming all way through, chocolate baby, from which it all had started.
